Tried to reinstall windows just as a test and it wont let me reinstall onto the ssd. Have tried swapping cables around and no change. Then I would have to force restart and the majority of the time it would come up with the "reboot and select proper boot device" message but occasionally it would just start up fine. Now it won't boot at all. I had issues earlier in the week where my BIOS reset itself suddenly, which was fixed for a few days and now this.
Any help is appreciated, ive had so many issues with this computer custom build im ready to just get rid of it. Assuming that? We don't know if you've updated to the latest Firmware for your SSD brand or anything else like How old it is?

When I try to reinstall, if i choose "repair" it says "This version of System Recovery Options is not compatible with the version of windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that is compatible with this version of windows". If i just try to install it, if i click "upgrade" it says "the computer started using the windows installation disc. The selected disc is of the GPT partition style".

Everything was running great until today, no freezes, no crashes. Context: So today, I was playing terraria Installed on my SX and hosting a server for it at the same time.
While on the server with one client open, I wanted to join with another at the same time by launching another client did it before multiple times, always worked fine. This time though, after launching the second client my pc just froze completely. I could still move my mouse, and could still talk to a friend in discord, but clicking my mouse didn't work and the keyboard didnt react either.
After waiting for a bit, decided to just click the hard reset button on my pc. I checked if the disks still appear in the BIOS boot list thing, and everything was there. So I tried restarting a few times, same thing.
After that, tried replugging the cables from all the disks, same thing. After that read up on some forums, turned on CSM or smth like that. Then when trying to boot it gave me an error 0xc and something about a device not being connected. After doing some digging I've run cmd. After that couldn't really find something as specific and given up on getting my files back. So wanted to just reinstall windows on the ssd.
Buuut well, it said "Windows cannot be installed on this drive". Clicking that opened an another window telling me to check if the drive is being booted correctly from BIOS or something like that. Now the drive doesnt even show up on the boot boot priority in BIOS. Only when I click on Boot Menu, it shows up So now I'm installing windows on my HDD as of writing this. So, is there a way to somehow fix the drive or is it gone for good?
Sorry for the grammar and writing from a phone and still nervous about all this If u need more info or for me to explain something clearer let me know.

Few days ago the customer came back because they couldn't recover the data. But all sectors are empty 00 - no userdata at all. Is this fixable with PC3K SSD as i read here in other threads or did the other company try to repair the firmware and destroyed the data as i suggest? Sounds very much like they tried to update the FW and it got screwed.
Hi Boerge, It's a firmware issue where the translator is lost could be weak hands with bad blocks in SA as well I working on the exact same case right now, and almost getting all the data from the drive.
Scenario was like this: first time when you have this SSD, controller still works translator toothere was just only bad blocks and you can read this drive generally without big problem. But data still can be retrieved. Of course it will be more expensive for client, and result could be worse - it depends on condition of memory chip sometimes degradation of memory modules is big.
Switch to mobile style. Page 1 of 1. Previous topic Next topic. After all, data recovery isn't cheap, certainly not "pennies" or "a few Euros". I don't know about you, but I generally obtain at least two quotes for any job, be it data recovery or anything else. And there is nothing to say that the client didn't go to another data recovery shop rather than a "PC shop".
In fact I can probably find threads involving screw-ups by DR "engineers" in this forum alone. Why do you care? Users browsing this forum: No registered users and 3 guests.
